Some NOAA Employees Received Demand Letter for Payment of Health Insurance Premiums While They Were Fired

Probationary employees of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) who were fired in February 2025, rehired in Mid-March, and then fired again in April, received letters from the National Finance Center (NFC) demanding payment for health insurance premiums during the eighth and ninth pay periods of the year. According to NBC, employees who received the letters stated they were no longer receiving health insurance benefits during these pay periods and NOAA did send a follow-up email indicating that the debt notices may have been sent in error.
