HUD Orders Employees Back On Site

Implementing the President's January 20, 2025 "Return to In-Person Work" memorandum, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) required nearly all employees to return to fully on-site work beginning February 24, 2025. AFGE Council 222 objected from the outset, sending HUD a cease-and-desist demand on January 28, 2025 over the implementation of telework policy changes. An arbitrator later found the February 2025 implementation breached HUD's union contract and federal statute.
