VA Ends DEI, Stops Millions in Spending on DEI
Press Release or Fact Sheet | January 27, 2025
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced that it "ended DEI" and, specifically, that it placed nearly 60 employees on leave whose roles had focused, in the VA's determination, solely on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) activities. Additionally, the VA indicated it identified multiple "DEI-related" contracts that it intends to cancel and will take down "DEI-related" media. According to media reporting, the shuttered programs focused on outreach to "minorities, women, LGBTQ+ veterans, individuals with disabilities, religious minorities," and others.
