Administrator Loeffler Announces SBA Goal to Relocate Regional Offices Out of Sanctuary Cities
Press Release or Fact Sheet | March 6, 2025
The Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that the agency would relocate six of its regional offices — located in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York City, and Seattle — out of sanctuary cities "that do not comply with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement." Loeffler stated the relocations would move these offices to "less costly, more accessible locations in communities that comply with federal immigration law," and framed the action as part of the administration's broader immigration enforcement agenda. As of March 2026, SBA's own press statements describe the relocations as still in progress. The list of targeted cities has since expanded to eight, adding Los Angeles and Minneapolis to the original six.
