Department of Education Begins Detailing Employees to Department of Labor

On January 20, 2026, the Department of Education began detailing employees to the Labor Department as part of its implementation of a workforce development partnership previously announced in July 2025. Pursuant to the partnership, the Labor Department took on a greater role in administering the adult education and family literacy programs funded under Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and career and technical education programs. Between 40 and 50 employees were detailed to the Labor Department to assist with this shift in management.
