DOJ's New Enforcement & Affirmative Litigation Branch

This press release announces a new office within the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Civil Division: "The Enforcement and Affirmative Litigation Branch." It notes that the Enforcement section of the office will focus on consumer protection under various federal statutes while the affirmative litigation section will pursue litigation against states, municipalities, and private entities that obstruct federal policies. Two of the branch's enforcement priorities will be to protect women and children from "false and misleading claims related to so-called gender transition" and to end "sanctuary jurisdiction laws, policies, and practices that impede federal immigration enforcement and make Americans less safe in their communities."
