FBI Fires Agents Who Demonstrated "A Lack of Impartiality"

The New York Times reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) director Kash Patel fired roughly 20 more agents in September 2025, including agents who appeared in photographs taking a knee at demonstrations that erupted in the wake of the May 2020 killing of George Floyd. According to a complaint filed by twelve former FBI special agents, each plaintiff received a brief termination letter in which Patel wrote that the recipient had "demonstrated unprofessional conduct and a lack of impartiality in carrying out duties, leading to the political weaponization of government."
