Opportunity for Deferred Resignation Program Participants to Support Wildland Fire Response

On July 9, 2025, the Department of Interior issued a memorandum "extending the opportunity for its employees in the Deferred Resignation/Retirement Program (DRP) who have current incident qualification cards (also referred to as 'red cards') to support wildland fire response efforts." The memo explained that participation was voluntary and the opportunity was available to DRP participants until their resignation or retirement.
