Differential Pay for Prescribed Wildland Fire Activities

The Office of Personnel Management proposed a regulation that would provide for payment of Hazardous Duty Pay for General Schedule employees and Environmental Differential Pay for Federal Wage System employees who are engaged in planned fires. The change would grant a 25% pay increase for federal firefighters while they are conducting controlled burns to eliminate potential fuel for wildfires.
