EPA Announces Reduction in Force, Reorganization Efforts

On July 18, 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a reduction in force to eliminate its Office of Research and Development (ORD). As part of the elimination of the office, EPA reassigned over 100 employees to new offices, including ordering over 30 employees to relocate geographically. The EPA further announced that some scientific responsibilities previously housed in the ORD would be reassigned to a new office within the office of the EPA administrator, the Office of Applied Science and Environmental Solutions.
