Department of Labor Rehired Probationary Employees Fired In Spring 2025

As part of the government-wide purge of probationary employees in February 2025, the Department of Labor terminated probationary staff across at least six component agencies: the Women's Bureau, the Employment and Training Administration, the Office of Disability Employment Policy, the Mine Safety and Health Administration, the Employee Benefits Security Administration, and the Bureau of International Labor Affairs. In March 2025, however, the Labor Department began reinstating approximately 120 of these employees, asking them to return to duty after being placed on administrative leave.
