DOGE Froze Credit Cards GSA Employees Used to Pay for Goods & Services for the Agency

Between March 7, 2025, and January 13, 2026, the Department of Government Efficiency placed a freeze on government credit cards used by employees of the General Services Administration, hampering the day-to-day work of the agency. According to news reporting, a memo announcing the freeze declared: "Effective immediately, all GSA SmartPay Travel and Purchase Cards issued to GSA employees and contractors are being paused and will not be available for use except in very limited circumstances."
