Guidance on Probationary Periods, Administrative Leave & Details

This memo required agencies to provide the Office of Personnel Management with lists of probationary employees. It was revised on March 4. Here is the original version. This data collection preceded a purge of probationary employees across the executive branch. Additionally, the memo listed reasons that agencies could put employees on administrative leave (AL) and reminded agencies that they have the authority to assign employees to details (i.e., temporary reassignments). The memo encouraged use of AL and details during times of transition.
