SSA Announces Reorganization Plans in Early 2025

In February 2025, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced a planned reorganization, including by announcing a plan to shut down regional offices. In March 2025, SSA reported that it had not permanently closed any of its local field offices save for one in New York. However, news reporting on a March draft of the reorganization plan indicated that SSA intended to "consolidate" some field offices.
