The Health Resources & Services Administration Lost Almost a Quarter of its Employees in the First Half of 2025

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) lost approximately 700 employees between January and July 2025, almost a quarter of its workforce. Former employees expressed concern that the reduced staffing would lead to specific programs being eliminated and could result in limited ongoing program oversight. In April 2025, Senators previously sent a letter to HHS expressing concerns about layoffs at HRSA.
