According to Politico, in April 2025 — after the termination of probationary employees (later reversed by court order) and first-round deferred resignations — the Department of Transportation began offering employees a "Career Transition Learning Series" in connection with impending layoffs. This series included sessions on improving employees' personal brands, interviewing skills, translating federal experience to the private sector, "coping with downsizing and job loss," and "managing strong emotions," which emphasized that preventing emotional outbursts is key to a productive workplace. Employees described the sessions as "insulting" and out of touch.
