Elimination of Federal Executive Boards
Regulation (Final) | March 21, 2025
As directed by the February 19, 2025 Executive Order (EO) 14,217 “Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy," the Office of Personnel Management issued this final rule eliminating the Federal Executive Boards (FEBs), which helped coordinate federal agency activity outside of Washington D.C. FEBs have operated since being established by President Kennedy in 1961. Personnel formerly assigned to FEBs were subject to reductions in force (RIF'd) or reassigned.
