EO 14,217: Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy
Executive Order | February 19, 2025
This Executive Order (EO) stated that the policy of the Trump Administration was to greatly decrease the size of the bureaucracy while increasing accountability. It directed the elimination of several small agencies and advisory committees, including: the Presidio Trust, the Inter-American Foundation, the United States African Development Foundation, and the United States Institute of Peace. The EO also terminated the Presidential Management Fellows Program, a leadership development program at the entry-level for advanced degree candidates, which had been created decades prior. The EO also directed administration officials to identify other agencies and committees to eliminate.
