Applicants for Federal Law Enforcement & Intelligence Face Loyalty Tests

Though no written policy has been made available publicly, multiple news reports indicate that applicants for career law enforcement and intelligence positions had been asked questions that probed their political views and/or loyalty to President Trump and his own views. The interviews included questions about who won the 2020 election and who the “real patriots” were on January 6, 2021, and whether January 6 was an "inside job." In a statement to The Washington Post, White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said: "It is entirely appropriate that candidates for national security positions in the Trump administration align with President Trump’s agenda to put America First.'"
