ICE Recruits Did Not Receive Proper Training Due to AI Error

According to reporting by NBC News, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) used an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program to manage its hiring and onboarding in 2025, which saw a very large staffing increase. Sources reported that the AI mislabeled new recruits as experienced law enforcement officers. Since experienced law enforcement officers were not required to attend a longer, in-person training before being deployed, the mistake reportedly led to the deployment of these less experienced recruits after a shortened training period.
