ICE Plans $100 Million Recruitment Push
In December 2025, the Washington Post reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intended to push forward a plan to spend $100 million in one year to recruit new agents and officers in a targeted campaign. In addition to being a larger than ordinary effort, the Washington Post reported that the campaign would target people with certain beliefs through social media and targeted ads, including people who support gun rights, those who attend UFC fights, and people interested in "conservative news and politics." Under the strategy, ICE would also use an ad-industry technique known as 'geofencing' to send ads to the phone web browsers and social media feeds of anyone who set foot near military bases, NASCAR races, college campuses, or gun and trade shows." The media outlet also reported that conservative social media influencers would be targeted. In the article, the Washington Post highlighted recruitment ads for ICE that have violent warlike themes suggesting defense of the nation against invaders. One such ad proclaimed "DEFEND THE HOMELAND" and "DEPORT ALL FOREIGN INVADERS."
