SO 3416: Ending DEI Programs & Gender Ideology Extremism

This order implements two of President Trump's Executive Orders (EOs): EO 14,151 ("Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing") and EO 14,168 ("Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism") across the Department of the Interior. It directs the termination of all diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), DEIA, and environmental justice ("equity-related") offices, positions, governing bodies (such as the "Equity Action Team"), plans, policies, grants, contracts, and equity-related employee performance requirements. It also rescinds the department's prior Secretary's Order 3406, discontinues the DEIA Council it had established, bars the use of department funds to promote equity-related policies including for environmental justice purposes, and directs the Deputy Secretary and the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget to carry out implementation within 30 days.
