EO 14,173: Ending Illegal Discrimination & Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity

This Executive Order (EO) revoked earlier EOs, memoranda, and government policies related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). It prohibited federal hiring officials from factoring DEIA considerations into the hiring process. The EO also purports to encourage the private sector to stop DEIA efforts by directing government officials to recommend law enforcement actions against private employers who are seen as "egregious and discriminatory DEI practitioners."
